Coaches and athletes alike would all benefit from using sports hypnosis. There is a huge amount of new research that proves a large percentage of our internal self-talk is negative and self-defeating, internal chatter such as

  • “What if I don’t perform my best?”
  • “Everyone is counting on me.”
  • “I don’t want to let my teammates down.”
  • “My parents are watching and I hate that disappointed look.”

Hypnosis decreases anxiety and stress and provides the athlete with a combination of mental quiet and physical relaxation producing a slower heart rate, lower blood pressure and beneficial changes in body chemistry.

Each thought that passes through our minds immediately impacts every nerve, cell and fibre in our bodies through electronic and chemical changes.

This directly affects the large and small muscles of our body.

“What if I lose the next game” is habitually followed by losing the next game.

This is why so many athletes do much better in training than in important games because they engage in negative self-talk when everything is on the line. Hypnosis is a useful tool to help athletes overcome these self-fulfilling prophesies that in most cases are almost always avoidable.

When in a hypnotic trance, the athlete is taught visualization techniques to create a rich sensory experience of success. The more real the experience becomes in the subconscious mind in a trance, the more effect it will have on the athletes performance later.

Hypnosis can allow you to use imagery in a very powerful and effective way to help improve their mind and body. Post hypnotic suggestions are installed to increasing self-confidence, control nerves as well as addressing personal issues.

Hypnosis done well by a master such as myself can be a highly effective performance-enhancement technique and can be of great benefit to the athlete overcoming injury through rapid healing by reducing swelling and pain sensations as well as increasing blood flow and healing fluids to the affected areas.

More and more athletes around the world are learning how hypnosis can be used to control their inner dialogue/self-talk, so that instead of developing negative self-fulfilling prophesies; they can easily develop positive ones.

I would encourage every athlete to learn and practice hypnosis to overcome any poor habits…especially thinking habits…which can be so hard to break when the player is stressed during an important competition.

This is where Sport Hypnosis has a tremendous advantage over other methods of coaching methods to help players modify their thinking and behaviour during a game.

In hypnosis the athlete is trained to focus his/her concentration in such a way that they will never again be distracted by negative thoughts and this happens before every game.

The athlete is placed into deep hypnosis and visualises the perfect game so they can plan how to overcome every challenge that they may face in a virtual game. It allows the athlete to prepare while relaxed and focused on the game, without allowing distractions to interfere…and this includes distracting thoughts.

Sports history abounds with fabulous examples of athletes using sports hypnosis to overcome difficulty and improve their performance.

Master hypnotists, like myself, have taught hypnotic techniques to athletes in virtually every sport, enabling them more motivation, intensity, focus, consistency, concentration, mental strength and anxiety control.

While using the best equipment and being in top physical condition are key elements of success, sports hypnosis will be the most valuable tool you will ever have.
